Hi, wondering about 'independents' versus 'independence' . Would these two words be homophone words? Or something else?

I had a homework of homophones that was more than 100 homophones and I just searched for homophones and this popped up and I putted in my note book and the next day when we were checking the homework i got all of them right and i was surpised i really recomend these homophones.
